November 4th, 2011 ~ Secret Church
The topic for the next Secret Church gathering will be "Family, Marriage, Sex, and the Gospel". Manhood. Womanhood. Marriage. Parenting. Singleness. Sex. Divorce. Homosexuality. Same-sex marriage. Polygamy. Pornography. Adoption. Abortion.
Cultures around the world perceive each of these issues differently. So how does God's Word address them? During Secret Church we will explore how the gospel uniquely affects our understanding of family, marriage, sex, and a host of related (and controversial) issues that are ultimately foundational for the display of the glory of God in our lives, in the church, and in the world.
We will be going to Lakeview Community Church for the simulcast and the event is free but you can get a study guide for $5 but you must pre-register for one at the church's webpage. The event will run from 7PM to 1:30AM "ish". Click here to check out the church's location.

October 29th, 2011 ~ Adopt A Mile Outreach
We are going to do some community service this Saturday by cleaning up the section of road between SR 590 and Drew Street as part of the Adopt A Mile program. We will have some gloves and "reacher grabber"s on hand for this effort. It should only take a couple hours.

October 15th, 2011 ~ Canoe Outing
We are going to go canoeing on the Little Manatee River. It will cost $16 for the canoe rental per person (2 people per canoe). Please bring your lunch with you and we will have coolers on hand. We will meet at the church at 9AM and we will take a van to do carpooling with.

Join us for a fun night of roller skating from 7 to 9PM at Super Skate in Largo. It's time to bring back an oldie but a goodie.
The exact location of the roller skating rink is 9185 Ulmerton Road Largo, FL 33771 and the cost is $8 for admission and $3 for inline skate rental ($2 for the old school skates). July 2nd, 2011 ~ Strategy Board Game Night
Join us for a night of board games as we take strategy to a new level.
We will be meeting up at the Globe Coffee Shop in downtown St. Pete at 532 1st Ave N St. Pete, FL. It is a totally free event but we encourage you to buy & enjoy a delicious meal, drink, and/or snack while we hang out at the shop. We will meet at the location at 5PM and go until you are gamed out. June 4th, 2011 ~ Clearwater Threshers vs. Dunedin Blue Jays
Join us for a night of minor league baseball right at Bright House field (a few minutes from the church). We are gonna check out the game, enjoy some peanuts and cracker jacks, and have a fun evening. At the close of the game, fireworks will be on display.
The exact location of the ballpark is 601 Old Coachman Rd Clearwater, FL 33765 and the cost is $6 (maybe less) for admission. There are food vendors you can purchase from as well. We will meet at the location around 6:30 PM and get under way with the fun.

May 21st, 2011 ~ Paint Balling
For the month of May, we will be going to Clearwater Paintball by the Chi Chi Rodriquez driving range. The playing area is rolling hills with mock-ups of tanks, buildings, trenches and pillboxes. Five different areas allow numerous games to go on at one time.
The cost is $35 per person. The group rate includes gear and gun rental, all day air, field fee and 500 paintballs. The exact address is 2987 McMullen Booth Rd. May 5th, 2011 ~ National Day of Prayer
Come partner with Encounter as we participate with the 7th Annual National Day of Prayer at Bright House Field. We will be joining with fellow brothers and sisters in Christ (over 50 churches) within Pinellas County lifting up our nation before God.
Bright House Field is located at the intersection of US 19 & Drew Street. The event gets underway at 7PM and this year's theme is "A Mighty Fortress is Our God". The theme is based on the verse from Psalm 91:2 - "I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." It will be a fantastic experience, especially if you have never attended one before. |

April 9th, 2011 ~ Armed Forces Military Museum
For the month of April, we will be going to Armed Forces Military Museum in Largo, FL. Experience the fight for your freedom through the eyes of American heroes, as the museum walks you through military history from a WWI trench to the flight deck of the Japanese aircraft carrier Akagi.
The museum is located in Largo, FL at 2050 34th Way North (North side of SR 688/ Ulmerton Road) between Belcher Road and Starkey Road. We will get underway at 12PM and the cost is $12 for admission. Please contact Gianni LoVario if you have any questions.

March 19th, 2011 ~ Park Day
We will be going to the Philippe Park as our March group activity. We will be cooking burgers and hot dogs with drinks and snacks available. Also, we will be playing various games including volleyball, kickball, frisbee, and whatever else we can think of. It will cost $5 per person to cover the cost of food.

February 25th, 2011 ~ Ice Skating
For the month of February, Encounter will be heading over to the Clearwater Ice Arena to strap on some skates and carve up the ice! It is $11.50 per person for admission and skates, cheaper if you have skates (but really, who in Florida has ice skates).
We will be at the location from 8 to 10PM, or until everyone is too cold/ tired to continue. We may even go out for hot chocolate afterwards. Contact Gianni LoVario if you have any questions. Hope to see you there! |
